1. About this event

PumpkinFest is an outdoor family event in an open field, with a pumpkin patch, a straw play area, a fire pit and tractor-trailer rides. Like any outdoor, physical activity, it carries inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Uneven, muddy ground, and slips, trips or falls — including straw that can be slippery when wet.

• Pumpkins on the ground, which are heavy to lift and can be a trip hazard.

• A fire pit on a gravel base, at least 8 m from any straw and supervised by staff, but still a burn hazard.

• Tractor-trailer rides in a covered, seated trailer.

• A stream and a ditch at the field boundaries (the stream is shallow, but still a water hazard).

• General outdoor hazards such as rain, wind and cold.

• The presence of other visitors, including other children, in a busy outdoor space.

2. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervision

This is a parent-managed event. Parents and guardians are primarily responsible for supervising their own child(ren) at all times while on site, including in the straw area, near the fire pit and on the tractor ride. Staff are on site to assist, advise and monitor, and to respond to incidents, but they do not act as childminders and do not take over supervisory responsibility from a parent or guardian. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

3. While you're here, please

• Walk, don't run, in the straw area — it can be slippery when wet.

• Stay behind the barrier at the fire pit and keep children close to you.

• Stay seated for the whole tractor ride, and wait for the marshal before getting on or off.

• Let adults lift the heavy pumpkins, and use the orange carts to carry them.

• Keep away from the stream and the ditch at the field boundaries — no paddling or swimming.

• Not smoke, or use naked flames or fireworks anywhere on the field.

• Wash or sanitise your hands before eating.

• Follow any reasonable instruction from staff, and report any hazard, injury or lost child immediately.

• Tell a member of staff about any medical condition or allergy (yours or your child's) that may be relevant in an emergency.

4. Liability

We take reasonable care to keep the site safe, including the checks and controls in our risk assessment. Other than as set out below, we do not accept liability for injury, loss or damage arising from the ordinary risks of this outdoor event, including those listed in Section 1, save where caused by our negligence.

Nothing in this notice excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Open daily 10:00-16:00. A trained first aider, a fire marshal and a full first aid kit are on site throughout every session.
